Only one year ago...

We choose different ways to remember important events. As for me, I choose not to remember this day as some have. From SondraK

So who, you may ask, do the self-hating feminist broads over at The View decide to interview on their show today? Why the very person(s) who decided to put Terry Schiavo to her death

The rest of her post is an appropriate rant at BahBah WahWah and her little girlie club. I've said enough in the past and my views haven't changed, so I'll just refer my readers to those previous posts in the appropriate category.

OTA - Open Trackback Post 03.27.06

I'm a little late getting this up today, my apologies. On a side note, I have my 1st year blogoversary coming up April 2nd. I plan to post a few of my old favorites in April but would be happy to see what my readers liked best as well. I have  yet to completely integrate my previous posts into the category system, so you'll have to use the monthly archives to go through everything. Let me know what you liked best in comments to this post and in future posts and I'll include them in my April look back.

As the lovely Samantha Burns says:

Please use this space to trackback your best, main page articles (I just require a link to this article, as always). Also, if you have something to discuss, it is welcomed here as well.

ADVICE: Trackback main blog page articles to showcase your work (and it will help to attract readers).

Yep, I was in a plagirizing mood ;-) Nevertheless, it's a good way to draw more attention to your blog, so trackback away :-) I'll have one of these each Monday, because, well, I hate Mondays ;-p

Please refrain from using international accent marks in your post url. The inline trackback script will fail if those are used.

Just for grins and giggles and because I can - v.3

More entertainment at the expense of arrogant online skeptics. You can see previous fun here, here and here. More to come later, as there seems to be a never ending supply of such individuals. This particular guy went away rather quickly but his foolishness is quite evident. I don't mind a reasonable discussion, like the one in my Yes, there is a God post. However, when skeptics act like, well, a non-believer's version of Pat Robertson, with a heavy does of jackassery for good measure, they shouldn't be surprised when we respond with a bit of scarcasm and dismissal. It should be noted, that I've run across a few smart atheists that rip into these types on their side, as much as I do. Kudos to them, for recognizing and exposing the foolishness amongst their fellow travelers. Do these type of individuals and their actions mean atheism or whatever ism is false? Of course not. But it seems that some on the other side, view Pat Robertson's foolishness as a valid way to overturn any argument for Christian claims. So, let's have some fun at the expense of their village idiots equivalent.

I think therefore I'm damned...Wrote:

I bet you think your screen name is clever <--- sarcasm, In case you missed it.

The direct approach doesn't work with faith, that's why it's lasted so long. Arguing against them directly on reaffirms their faith, most of the time.

When you don't have a good argument, that's what tends to happen. Much like the drivel you're spouting now.

If you really care, you have to compromise and be more indirect when convincing them.

Deceptive tactics do not a lousy argument make stronger.

I have yet to figure it out,

Obviously

but this way doesn't work anymore,

Here's a suggestion, You might want to honestly consider that you are wrong

they're too well prepared/indoctrinated.

Says the guy who cant give a direct argument.

Take away the foundations and their faith will collapse

Still waiting for something rational.

you can't make a direct attack work

See previous.

this I know.

You don't seem to know much

When yer Willy has it right...

"Bonjour ya cheese-eating surrender monkeys!" - said by groundskeeper Willy when substituting for a french class (The Simpsons)

Apparently, the French government has plenty of time on hand, now that they can no longer count the receipts from oil and other trading with that wonderful dictator and crybaby in court Saddam Hussien. Now they seem to want to make up for the inability or perhaps laziness of French companies, by forcing Apple to make it's Ipod music open to anyone who wants to be able to play it.

Apple attacks plan to open iTunes

Apple has criticised a French law that could break the locks tying songs from the iTunes store to iPod players.

In a statement Apple said that if the law were passed it would result in "state-sponsored piracy".

The law to open up all online music stores is due to go to France's upper house of parliament for final approval.

The French government said the law was drawn up to ensure no single company dominated the fast growing music download market.

[...]

Heaven forbid, that the marketplace be allowed to make such decisions. If consumers are not satisfied with what Apple provides, they can go elsewhere. I guess the, no 40 hour work week for me, French consumers might find that to be too much effort.

Homer Simpson said it best.

"Stupid French"

Islamofacism is not a religion

As the misogynistic, blood thirsty, racist, homophobic, nut jobs that use religion as cover for their barbarism, continue to infect Islam, they will only guarantee that Islam is no longer a religion, just as their own scatological movement is anything but. A case in point, as covered by Michelle Malkin (quotes from her previous post):

An Afghan man who recently admitted he converted to Christianity faces the death penalty under the country's strict Islamic legal system. The trial is a critical test of Afghanistan's new constitution and democratic government.

[...]

Abdul Rahman, 40, was arrested last month, accused of converting to Christianity. Under Afghanistan's new constitution, minority religious rights are protected but Muslims are still subject to strict Islamic laws. And so, officially, Muslim-born Rahman is charged with rejecting Islam and not for practicing Christianity.

[...]

Rahman reportedly converted more than 16 years ago after spending time working in Germany. Officials say his family, who remain observant Muslims, turned him over to the authorities. On Thursday the prosecution told the court Rahman has rejected numerous offers to embrace Islam. Prosecuting attorney Abdul Wasi told the judge that the punishment should fit the crime.

He says Rahman is a traitor to Islam and is like a cancer inside Afghanistan. Under Islamic law and under the Afghan constitution, he says, the defendant should be executed.

I spoke of this earlier here. To my regret, what I saw as only beginning, is actually becoming more established and threatening right now.

The extremists mean to destroy everyone not of Islam but they only destroy Islam as a faith. The following is from a novel about the future, sadly, even now, it begins to ring true.

"No one is faithful to God who has no choice. [...] there are no true Muslims in the world, because they may not choose to cease to be Muslims. If a Muslim tries to become a Hindu or a Christian or even a simple unbeliever, some fanatical Muslim will kill him. [...] Islam is a religion that has no believers, [...] Only people who are compelled to call themselves Muslims and live as Muslims under fear of death."

Shocking words, but is there any doubt that is the world the Islamofascists will achieve if they are not defeated? I pray that those of peace within Islam may overcome this dark shadow that is upon us all.

President Bush and Afghan President Hamid Karzai need to intervene. Not only for the sake of this man and Afghanistan but also for the sake of Islam. What must also be considered, is the affect this will have on whoever supports helping people in the Middle East rise up from the depths of tyranny they have suffered under for so long. If this trial and his punishment are not stopped, it will be much more difficult to maintain support for our continued sacrafices in the region. The WOT is also a war of ideas. This man's fate, if there is no intervention, will  allow those with xenophobic tendencies, to claim vindication. The WOT will suffer a devasting blow, as the idea that those in the Middle East are incapable of civilized behaviour gains more strength. This farce of of a trial must be stopped before it reaps such tragedies. Islamofacism is not a religion worthy of respect or toleration, but merely a ravenous beast, that needs to be killed.

The NY Times is going down

I bet that got Bill Clinton's attention.

Due to the extraordinary fact-checking process at the paper of record - oops. Seems more like "whatcha got that makes ChimpyHilter look bad?". Turns out the hooded dude of Abu Ghraib fame, is not the guy that's been going around claiming - hey that's me!

Michelle Malkin has the story and several links to reaction here. Just a sample, go read it all:

The New York Times acknowledged in Saturday's editions that it incorrectly identified an Iraqi man in a front-page story as the hooded figure shown in a photograph from Abu Ghraib prison that became an icon of abuse by American captors.

An editor's note accompanying a front-page story on Ali Shalal Qaissi said the paper ''did not adequately research Mr. Qaissi's insistence that he was the man in the photograph.''

She has a graph of the NY Times stock price going down, and hitting it's lowest point since 1998. This decline was also noted in December here.

V For Vendetta

What is courage?

To make a film with (as noted here and here)

  • a child molesting bishop
  • a totalitarian government with Fred Phelps policies against gays
  • that government having a stylized Christian cross as its symbol
  • references to America's war
  • images that mimic Abu Ghraib
  • the Koran is banned
  • Poster equating coalition of the willing as Nazis is banned

Or

  • Publishing slightly offensive cartoons of Mohammad and risking violence and death threats
  • pointing out that Islamofascists hang homosexuals and ban the Bible
  • selling valentines day cards in such countries gets your store ransacked
  • merely being a woman in such countries and subject to honor killings
  • and the list goes on

When is someone going to be brave enough to make a high marque film about those realities? When is someone going to spend as much money on expensive promotions about the Islamofacism that threatens all of us? Rather than, what can easily be taken as merely a moonbat's paranoid, bizzaro world, slippery slope screed against the current administration, only with cool special effects and a heroine with a tight body? Just wondering.

You may have noticed the category cloud in my sidebar just below recent posts. I'm still working on it and far from every post over the last year is covered, in fact only about 17 of my last posts are set up properly, but I'm working on it. So, be sure to go through the archives or previous posts at the end of a current post, to find more items in my blog.

Sometimes I shouldn't listen to the radio at work

The internet, for all of it's wonders and convenience, can also be a tool for the most depraved. It's becoming more difficult to be shocked as the coarseness of our culture continues to inecrease. Yet, when I heard this on the radio today, I was nearly ill and it took me a few moments to compose myself and begin working again.

27 charged in child porn sting

Three men from suburban Chicago and an Iowa woman were among 27 people indicted on charges of using an Internet chat room to traffic in thousands of images of child pornography, including streaming live molestations over the Web, federal authorities announced today.

"The behavior in these chat rooms and the images many of these defendants sent around the world through peer-to-peer file sharing programs and private instant messaging services are the worst imaginable forms of child pornography," U.S. Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales said.

For example, Gonzales said, one defendant who goes by the Internet screen name "Acidburn" "allegedly produced live streaming videos of himself sexually molesting an infant."

"Seven victims of molestation have been identified. The youngest was less than 18 months old," Gonzales said at a news conference in Chicago to announce the charges. Other participants included U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald and immigration and customs enforcement officials of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

"Less than 18 months old" - the mind reels, and words fail. How can someone do this to a child?

Let's make sure we get the names of the alleged monsters.

Those charged locally are Brian A. Annoreno, 29, of Bartlett—the "Acidburn" referred to by Gonzales—and Gregory J. Sweezer, 48, of Aurora and David B. Holst, 27, of North Aurora.

Lisa A. Winebrenner, 36, of Osceola, Iowa, was also charged.

Sweezer, Holst and Winebrenner go by the Internet screen names of "Acidburn," "Behrplus_925," "Yyydbh5182" and "HumbleDuchess," respectively, authorities said.

[...]

Officials identified the primary host of the chat room as Royal Raymond Weller, also known as "G.O.D.," of Clarksville, Tenn. Weller was arrested March 6 in Tennessee on federal child pornography charges.

[...]

If found guilty of the child pornography charges, the defendants could face federal prison terms ranging from 5 years for conspiracy as well as 10 years for possessing, 20 years for distributing and receiving and 30 years for manufacturing the illicit images.

People guilty of such things, generally seem to be incapable of reform. Should we have life sentences for repeat offenses? Some, might suggest the death penalty. I'm not convinced we should go that far, but I have to admit, I become enraged when the most innocent in society are treated in such a manner. The solutions will never be perfect, so we need to make sure that we think carefully and soberly about what laws and punishments are enacted or modified. This evil is bad enough, let's make sure we don't set ourselves up for disaster coming from another direction, by reacting only with passion instead of careful thought and consideration.

I'm keeping this post up another day. It turns out that international accent marks in trackbacks will cause  the inline trackback feature to fail. This prevented trackbacks from being displayed in the post until I fixed the problem late in the evening. Please refrain from using international accent marks, until a fix can be developed. Thank you, and trackback with your best article, while this is up all day Tuesday.

Lemmings

Though instead of the mythical story of running off a cliff, it seems that some decided to leap off of ports.

The Dubai port deal is dead. All that is left is fighting over who can brag about killing it and being a brave enough Republican to stand up against the administration. I don't think Congress was all that brave in this matter. They panicked and rather than lead, they merely followed the view that got out the gate first, like little lemmings. Lead or follow, which takes more bravery and skill? Apparently whoever seems to care most wins nowadays. Panic is more emotive than careful deliberation, so seems more concerned, the ultimate trump card as the creator of Dilbert noted with his usual talent for humor. If only humor could removed the foolishness of such a standard.

There are several things the administration can learn from this. Conditions for such a perfect storm have existed for some time now. By this I mean a situation where former supporters criticize and are joined by the MSM and TUS and reaching a critical mass that cannot be resisted and which draws in the GOP lemmings. In  this case, we have the dissatisfaction that many administration supporters have had with how the Southern border and illegal immigration have been handled. The impression has been that commercial concerns are more important. With the ports we have another combination of security issues and business/economic interests. That lack of confidence in the administration was already there, lying in wait for a match to light it.

This led to the story breaking out rather badly. The issue was very early framed as Bush once again not being as concerned with security as he should be. It's not surprising that the MSM and TUS would attack and the Demoncraps would size this as an opportunity to look more concerned about security than Bush is. To do so in way that has them practically advocating racial profiling is revealing for its hypocrisy. Need it be mentioned that such a standard has been resisted for airport security, when we actually have had a catastrophic failure in that industry?

It would take much bravery to resist such a tide of rising opposition. It seems that too many in the GOP are only capable of following the most panicked and vocal, rather than think clearly and judge the matter with careful deliberation. It is rather depressing, that such cowardice is applied to areas of national security and how we treat allies. It's one thing to run off a cliff yourself, but must these people also risk pushing the entire nation off the cliff? Being warmly greeted by the MSM now, will not avail much should disaster strike in the future.

Saddam lied and people died

Of course that's not the phrase so popular to those against the war and the Bush administration. However, foolish bumper sticker slogans, more concerned with scoring political points, are a poor substitute for providing for the national defense of this country. But then, given the words and actions by the MSM and TUS it seems that defending this country is not their main concern.

According to a new book (via Drudge) about the former Iraqi leader's war planning:

Even as U.S. Invaded, Hussein Saw Iraqi Unrest as Top Threat

The Iraqi dictator was so secretive and kept information so compartmentalized that his top military leaders were stunned when he told them three months before the war that he had no weapons of mass destruction, and they were demoralized because they had counted on hidden stocks of poison gas or germ weapons for the nation's defense.

[...]

In December 2002, he told his top commanders that Iraq did not possess unconventional arms, like nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, according to the Iraq Survey Group, a task force established by the C.I.A. to investigate what happened to Iraq's weapons programs. Mr. Hussein wanted his officers to know they could not rely on poison gas or germ weapons if war broke out. The disclosure that the cupboard was bare, Mr. Aziz said, sent morale plummeting.

To ensure that Iraq would pass scrutiny by United Nations arms inspectors, Mr. Hussein ordered that they be given the access that they wanted. And he ordered a crash effort to scrub the country so the inspectors would not discover any vestiges of old unconventional weapons, no small concern in a nation that had once amassed an arsenal of chemical weapons, biological agents and Scud missiles, the Iraq survey group report said.

Mr. Hussein's compliance was not complete, though. Iraq's declarations to the United Nations covering what stocks of illicit weapons it had possessed and how it had disposed of them were old and had gaps. And Mr. Hussein would not allow his weapons scientists to leave the country, where United Nations officials could interview them outside the government's control.

Seeking to deter Iran and even enemies at home, the Iraqi dictator's goal was to cooperate with the inspectors while preserving some ambiguity about its unconventional weapons — a strategy General Hamdani, the Republican Guard commander, later dubbed in a television interview "deterrence by doubt."

That strategy led to mutual misperception. When Secretary of State Colin L. Powell addressed the Security Council in February 2003, he offered evidence from photographs and intercepted communications that the Iraqis were rushing to sanitize suspected weapons sites. Mr. Hussein's efforts to remove any residue from old unconventional weapons programs were viewed by the Americans as efforts to hide the weapons. The very steps the Iraqi government was taking to reduce the prospect of war were used against it, increasing the odds of a military confrontation.

When someone is acting in a way to produce doubt and they are known for having and using WMD previously, the prudent course of action is to not trust them. There is still the matter of vast amounts of records and data that have yet to be translated or analyzed. It would be foolish to draw final conclusions until such information is completely examined and exploited properly. But some are more concerned with playing partisan politics and making silly bumper stickers.

WhoRu2...?

Who are you to...say, believe, do etc. that?

How many times do we hear this phrase, and similar, while discussing or debating some contentious issue?

The equivalent of saying - what does the color pink smell like? The very nature of such questions, especially when applied in rhetorical fashion, are unanswerable. Using such a query in debates is merely a cheap tactic to shut down discussion. A dodge used when some disagree but do not have the ability or the will to offer a good argument in response. Heaven forbid, that one should actually consider that their position is in error.

Though it may go over the heads of some, I think I may begin to reply, initially, in similar fashion.

Carnival of the Moonbat Cartoonists! Issue #1

Welcome to the first issue of Carnival of the Moonbat Cartoonists!

This carnival is scheduled for the second Saturday of every month with midnight, the Friday before that day being the sumbission deadline. I'll provide excerpts and links to the articles in the order they have been received. Feel free to submit your own in the future and be sure to leave comments at the blogs that have participated. Don't think you have to only write about nationally known cartoonists. I'm sure there are plenty that are local or even international that can be criticized or defended on numerous issues, so don't be shy.

Our fist submission is from a good friend of  mine and a strong submission it is! I also want to thank him for encouraging me to start this carnival.

Radar, at Radaractive, presents: Ted Rall: Proof against Darwinism

Scientists (and unfortunately, everybody else) have discovered a man so primitive and backwards in his social development, character and basic human decency that Darwinists en masse have thrown up their hands and admitted their mistake. That this individual could be alive today totally discounts the idea of evolution because obviously DEVOLUTION is the operation that is observed.

That this particular noxious specimen has chosen to work as a cartoonist, of all things, is the only thing funny about him or his work. He is not funny, he is not smart, nor clever, witty, nor wise. He is simply offensive, prejudiced, stupid, inane and socially retarded.

[...]

Our second article is from Agora, and presents Now is when History is Written.

Agora introduces the article from Jyllands-Posten:

This feature article ran in yesterday’s Jyllands-Posten. Read this - if for nothing else, to get this sentence in its context: “Who is on our side when it comes to defending Danes against bondage and serfdom to foreign powers?”

Excerpt from the article:

[...]

The calls on the public from former foreign secretaries, the have-been ex-ambassadors, the appeasing bishops, the writers and others have an eerie reminescense of King Christian X’s proclamation after the occupation of April 9, 1940 “During these for our country so troubled times, I urge all the people of Denmark to be fully correct and diginified in their behaviour, since any uncautious act or utterance may have the most severe repercussions.”

Are not these the same words we hear today - demands to not make uncautios utterances - not because they are unlawful, but because foreign lords will not tolerate them? And these demands are made at a time where the Moslem part of the population is still only somewhere between 4 and 5 percent. How much freedom will be left, I wonder, in 10, 15 or 20 years? The sheer horror of a life of serfdom has begun to spread amongst the people and this is where we see the explanation for the massive displacements of voters we have seen the last few weeks.

I want to thank you both, very much, for participating. Everyone, be sure to drop by their blogs and leave input. Keep an eye out for next months Carnival of the Moonbat Cartoonists! and feel free to submit an article of your own.

Until next time...

A stem cell research advancement

Much is made by MSM of every tiny step in embryonic stem cell research, yet there is more success with stem cell sources that don't require the controversial destruction of human embryos. One recent advance regards collecting blood from the umbilical cord. Until now, only enough blood could be recovered to provide stem cells for treating someone up to about 100lbs. We now have a more advanced method that will provide enough to treat an adult. (Thanks to Pamela at Atlus Shrugs)

Israeli device lengthens the stem cell cord that save lives (emphasis added)

BioCord, an Israeli start-up, has developed a novel method for collecting more than double this amount of blood from the umbilical cord, which means more illnesses can be treated and potentially more lives saved.

[...]

"Stem cells are taken from the cord blood and stored frozen in liquid nitrogen," explains Miki Shacham, the CEO of Ramat-Gan-based Israeli cord blood bank BioCord and the inventor of the new device. "These are first of all for the baby itself, they are a one hundred percent match. But there is a high probability of a match with close family members."

Stem cells are commonly taken from the bone marrow to treat diseases such as leukemia, but these stem cells are already mature; cord blood stem cells are much less mature, only nine months old, which means, says Shacham, "that they are more primitive and so they can become all types of cells," useful for treating a variety of diseases, not just illnesses of the blood.

There are around 80 illnesses that are now being treated with these stem cells, Shacham told ISRAEL21c. The young age of the cord blood stem cells also means a lower match is needed with the donor cells to receive a stem cell transplant, compared with bone marrow stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are even younger and therefore more flexible, but harvesting embryonic stem cells is highly controversial in most countries worldwide.

[...]

In initial tests of the prototype, in around seven minutes as much as triple the usual 80ml was collected by the SituGen, enough stem cells to treat an adult. As well as extracting more blood, the device is easier to use than a needle, with only a short time needed to master its operation, says Shaham.

[...]

Once receiving the Rambam Medical Center Helsinki Committee approval, SituGen will be tested on around 50 patients over several weeks, although regulatory agencies such as the FDA don't require such medical devices to undergo clinical trials. Patents application have been filed and Shacham is already in negotiations to market the SituGen, which is single-use and disposable and will cost around $100, through multinational companies that distribute cord blood bank products to the 150 or so cord blood banks around the world.

To fund marketing and production, he is raising $500,000 to add to the $500,000 invested by private investors and the Israeli Chief Scientist. "We are setting up a plant to produce the device in Israel," he says. "Israel is very good at plastic moldings of medical devices."

If I had the funds, I wouldn't mind investing in the company due just this inovation. Be sure to check out the other links at Atlus Shrugs, as well as Israel21c.

Orwell must be dizzy...

...from spinning like a top, due to what I heard on talk radio yesterday. While listening to Eileen Burn of WLS-Talk Radio discuss an act of terrorism by an individual acting alone, the issue came up about why the MSM wasn' t calling this terrorism.

Let's first look at what happened, with Michelle Malkin supplying plenty of coverage here: (excerpt)

A man who admits that he intentionally plowed into nine people on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus last week told authorities he was disappointed that more people were not around when he carried out the attack. In a search warrant released Tuesday, Mohammed Taheri-azar also told authorities that for two years, he had been thinking about some type of attack because "the United States government had been killing his people across the sea."

[...]

Be sure to also check out her recent post JIHAD IN N.C.: MSM WHITEWASH for more views on this matter.

I can think of several reasons for why many would avoid using the term terrorism here; political correctness, the administration wanting to avoid the charge of creating fear for political reasons, trying to avoid panic and/or assuming that some might resort to violent reprisals against innocent people. But while this was being discussed, a caller weighed in that we needed to define terrorism more clearly. This sounded like the beginning of a fruitful discussion, but it was soon revealed to be otherwise.

Turns out, this was an actual, genuine moonbat calling in to the show. The caller calmly proceeded to say that Bush not planning for Katrina, even though he knew what would happen, ended up terrorizing the people that endured the destruction and loss. It only gets better. She went on to say that the administration constantly talking about terrorism was making people feel terrorized. Ergo, in her "brain" Bush was committing terrorism. Eileen managed to say stupid and moron, rather politely at that, with both her and Cisco amused at what the caller was trying to say. I laughed rather loudly at work myself.

This bizzaro world mentality did not originate with the caller though. To completely define something only by the entirely subjective reaction of those directly affected, rather than by disinterested parties, is one of the problems affecting our court system. I've dealt with that somewhat in a post about the courts and judges here.

Laughter is probably the best thing to do when presented with such foolishness. However, we can have a little more fun by actually seeing where such "thinking" takes us. It is undeniable that mice, spiders or cockroaches, to name a few possibilities, terrify some people. To follow in that moonbat caller's rattled attempt at thinking, we have no choice but to conclude that mice, spiders and cockroaches are committing acts of terrorism, because their victims feel terrified. Therefore, such creatures are terrorists.

On the plus side, we can apply the Patriot Act against the vermin now, subject to congressional oversight of course. Well, when they actually bother to read intelligence documents made available to them. Based on past performances, one gets the impression that water boarding may be necessary for some Congressional critters to actually do their job, even when political points are not available for hoarding.

Now that I think about it more, that such an individual can vote and I presume, drive a car, greatly terrifies me. Using that moonbat's "logic", I conclude she's committing acts of terrorism. Cool, I'll call my buddy Karl and send our non-FISA approved intelligence agents to round her up, just in time for the installation of our theocracy :-D

Blago baloney

Some problems of late with the Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's Hate Crime Panel

Two members of hate crime panel resign over Nation of Islam's role

The frenzy over Gov. Rod Blagojevich's appointment of a Nation of Islam official to the state hate crimes commission escalated Thursday as two Jewish members resigned in disgust.

"Having a top member of an organization that continues to spew out hate on a regular basis made it impossible for us to continue to serve," Lonnie Nasatir, a regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, told The Associated Press.

While I think that the very concept of "hate crime" is foolish and dangerous, as it is one step closer to Orwellian thought control, if one is going to push the concept, it might be wise to be a ;careful who you appoint to such panels.

He reportedly wont remove a Farrakhan supporter because he doesnt believe in guilt by association. Nice twist on words there Kennedy wannabe. This is not the same as saying Christians support and agree with a "reverend" Fred (god hates fags) Phelps type because ;Phelps claims to be a Christian. That association is tenuous at best and even up for serious debate over the actual Christianity displayed by someone like Phelps. On the other hand, Sister Claudette Marie Muhammad is director of community outreach for the Nation of Islam. This isn't guilt by association but support and advocacy, until she denounces Farakhan's words.

Her presence was unknown to most people -- including Blagojevich -- until last month, when she invited members of the commission to attend a speech by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who has often attacked whites, Jews and gays over the years.

So far, her response has been rather vacuous and she has not denounced the Nation of Islam Leader.

One has to wonder, what happened to little Rod's self proclaimed testicular virility?

"This is the kind of thing that I think, frankly, separates the men from the boys in leadership. Do you have to have testicular virility to make a decision like that knowing what's coming your way, knowing what's coming your way? I say I do," Blagojevich said.

Did it go limp because of the Wrath of Farrakhan?

Cartoon Jihad! A silly question..

Is it too much to ask for peaceful protests and no threats of violence? We're talking about silly cartoons for crying out loud.

Tens of Thousands Rally Against Cartoons (H/T Atlus Shrugs)

KARACHI, Pakistan - Tens of thousands of people massed in Pakistan and Turkey on Sunday to protest cartoons of Islam's Prophet, Muhammad, that have fired anger throughout the Muslim world.

It would be fine if it ended there, but of course...

About 50,000 people, many chanting "Hang those who insulted the prophet," rallied Sunday in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi. The protesters burned the Danish flag, hit an effigy of
President Bush with a stick and chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Musharraf."

[...]

Some cartoon protests in Pakistan have turned deadly and at least five people died in two Pakistani cities in rioting last month.

Radical Islamists in Pakistan oppose Musharraf for his cooperation with the United States in the war on terrorism.

"Both Musharraf and his master Bush are killers of Muslims," said Maulana Fazlur Rahman, parliamentary opposition leader and a senior figure in the religious alliance.

So, let me see if I get this right. Mr. Rahman doesn't harangue about Saddam killing Muslims or either Z boy doing and advocating the same, but has a problem with Islamofascists being killed. Swell priorities you have there Mr. Rahman.

My reaction to threats of violence over cartoons:

MoShirtJihad

Of course, that isn't as attractive as Pamela at Atlus Shrugs but it still makes the point. I will not submit.

Stroking your poll

I wouldn't be surprised if this latest Zogby poll is yanked around by some, in such a manner as to give the impression of self-gratification, with the activity being encouraged as it meanders about the MSM and *TUS jerks whilst arranged in circular fashion.

According to Zogby:

U.S. Troops in Iraq: 72% Say End War in 2006

Pamela at Atlus Shrugs has a great collection of analysis and critique. I'll give you a couple excerpts but read everything she links to.

Zogby: "Fake and Inaccurate"

Totally partisan. More evidence of prejudice from The Democracy Project.

Others might be cautious, but I'm not........I'm calling the Zogby poll bullshit. Here's why.

As can be seen, the poll is quite problematic. Serious questions about methodology, internal incoherence and improper analysis by some in the media, are painfully obvious. But, as we have seen before, ignoring such details allows partisans to imagine their poll is bigger and harder hitting than it actually is. You would think that some would want to avoid repeating embarrasing suprises (ie cBSmapesRatherGateNewsWeekKflush).

Unfortunately, due to the ferocity and glee that sometimes accompanies such media created feeding frenzies, it may be end up being another two-hander, with no time for such boring fact checking. But even that, for all of it's promise of fullfillment and ectasy, seems to have only reached coitus interruptus, once again. Though their repition of this activity has not yet led to blindness, they are most certainly suffering from a debilitating near-sightedness, which hampers accurate reporting. One would think that constant disappointment would cause people to modify their behavior. Sadly, the result seems to be a more frenzied grasping for the elusive and shortsighted goal of destroying the Bush administration, over anything possible. Hopefully there is a medical procedure for those suffering from hairy palms.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

To mimic a classic line from Claude Rains in Casablanca. Unfortunately, instead of being feigned surprise over gambling at Ricks Café Américain my reaction is to the following news story.

How we duped the West, by Iran's nuclear negotiator

(excerpts)

The man who for two years led Iran's nuclear negotiations has laid out in unprecedented detail how the regime took advantage of talks with Britain, France and Germany to forge ahead with its secret atomic programme.

In a speech to a closed meeting of leading Islamic clerics and academics, Hassan Rowhani, who headed talks with the so-called EU3 until last year, revealed how Teheran played for time and tried to dupe the West after its secret nuclear programme was uncovered by the Iranian opposition in 2002.

He boasted that while talks were taking place in Teheran, Iran was able to complete the installation of equipment for conversion of yellowcake - a key stage in the nuclear fuel process - at its Isfahan plant but at the same time convince European diplomats that nothing was afoot.

"From the outset, the Americans kept telling the Europeans, 'The Iranians are lying and deceiving you and they have not told you everything.' The Europeans used to respond, 'We trust them'," he said.

Euroweanie diplomats, I get the impression used car salesmen would love them.

He described the regime's quandary in September 2003 when the IAEA had demanded a "complete picture" of its nuclear activities. "The dilemma was if we offered a complete picture, the picture itself could lead us to the UN Security Council," he said. "And not providing a complete picture would also be a violation of the resolution and we could have been referred to the Security Council for not implementing the resolution."

Mr Rowhani disclosed that on at least two occasions the IAEA obtained information on secret nuclear-related experiments from academic papers published by scientists involved in the work.

Is there anyone still wanting to trust these mad mullahs?

The Iranians' biggest setback came when Libya secretly negotiated with America and Britain to close down its nuclear operations. Mr Rowhani said that Iran had bought much of its nuclear-related equipment from "the same dealer" - a reference to the network of A Q Khan, the rogue Pakistani atomic scientist. From information supplied by Libya, it became clear that Iran had bought P2 advanced centrifuges.

Thank you President Bush for that setback!!

I wonder, which stories will be considered important enough by the MSM and *TUS to repeat and analyze over several news cycles, Katrina is Bush's fault, Poll shows US soldiers want to pull out of Iraq, (fill in the blank) is Bush's fault or that Iran has inadvertantly admitted to lying about its nuclear programs? I would really liked to be shocked with what actually happens, but I just know that will not be the case.

Leaving a dump in public is rather obscene...

Many should be familiar with the concept of lawyers "dumping" large quantities of paperwork on their opposition in response to requests for documents. The goal is to overwhelm their opponents and delay the discovery of damaging information.

There isn't much difference between that action and those in online forums, who post 100 "contradictions" in the Bible or 89 questions/objections, all at once, and preen that any delay in substantive response to such, is proof that Christianity is based on nothing but story book fairy tales.

Their goal is to intimidate by volume, with an additional affect being the tendency to diminish the chances that people will be able to respond fully, because of the time it would take to refute the entire mass of points raised. All one has to do is think about the effort involved to understand this, responding to 100 questions at just two minutes per question, takes over three hours. A truly substantive response can often take much more than a few minutes. If they really had so much confidence in their information, why not just present each point or argument one at a time for detailed discussion and see how they fare, before unloading everything?

The strutting arrogance displayed, when preceded by such an action, betrays, in actuality, a lack of confidence; a subconcious realization that in removing the intimidation by volume, they may quickly subject themselves to detailed analyisis and critique. This could lead to a continuous demonstration that each point is very flawed, and building to a critical mass, indicate a general lack of authority and credibility on the subject. Best to avoid such demonstrations, though by cheap tactics, is the desire, whether they realize it or not.

Such tricks may impress or disturb the uniformed, but for others, our reaction, to *roll eyes* or *ho-hum* is simply pointing out that such methods say more about the weakness of the opposition, than any lack of evidence for, or weakness to the Christian faith. Perhaps, when we're bored, we may respond in detail for amusement and to teach a lesson. In the meantime, if people want to dump, with such antics being on the same level as a scatological event, they should not be surprised when we simply reply with -- *yawn*.
