This reminds me of a quote

Much ado and yadda ya about James Cameron claiming to have found the tomb of Jesus, his wife and son, lately. The first time I saw a news item about this online, I said something along the lines of:

Rather odd that this wasn't mentioned long ago, it's not as if the New Testament church had a shortage of enemies.

Since then, others have weighed in and demonstrated that these claims don't hold much water, except as controversy that may briefly draw in advertising dollars. Frank at Atheism Sucks! has a round up of several criticisms here. (excerpts)

"How possible is it?" Pfann said. "On a scale of one through 10 _ 10 being completely possible _ it's probably a one, maybe a one and a half."

Pfann is even unsure that the name "Jesus" on the caskets was read correctly. He thinks it's more likely the name "Hanun." Ancient Semitic script is notoriously difficult to decipher.

[...]

The statistical analysis is of course only as good as the numbers that were provided to the statistician. He couldn’t run numbers he did not have. And when you try to run numbers on a combination name such as ‘Jesus son of Joseph’ you decrease the statistical sample dramatically. In fact, in the case of ‘Jesus son of Joseph’ you decrease it to a statistically insignificant number! Furthermore, so far as we can tell, the earliest followers of Jesus never called Jesus ‘son of Joseph’. It was outsiders who mistakenly called him that! Would the family members such as James who remained in Jerusalem really put that name on Jesus’ tomb when they knew otherwise? This is highly improbable

[...]

Frank also includes some points from JP Holding.

As McCane's study has shown us, Jesus would never have been permitted to have been buried honorably with his family. Strike 1.

The ossuaries in question were found in Jerusalem area. Beg pardon, but have they forgotten that Jesus' family was from Galilee? Strike 2.

The names in question were outrageously common...

"Captain Ed" weighs in as well here:

[...]

Let's take a few things in the context of the times. Jesus was a well-known agitator whose crucifixion creates a cult following, in the eyes of the Romans and the leading Jews of the time. The basis of that cult formed around the notion that Jesus rose from the dead. If the Romans knew where his body was buried, why then did they not produce it as proof of his immutable death? In order to be placed in an ossuary, he would have to lie in the tomb for a year, decomposing to skeletal remains. During that time, the Romans could easily have produced the body -- or the cult followers could have stolen it and buried it elsewhere to prevent it.

The familial ties also seem rather odd. In the first generation of Jesus, no one mentions his marriage or family. Yet his familiy and followers -- ossuaries of Matthew and James are supposedly among the discoveries -- supposedly felt it of no moment to bury him with his wife and son, despite their refusal to acknowledge a marriage. By the time his son would have died, the Gospels would already have been written and prophesied in the region and further to Greece and Rome.

And all of this evidence would have been left in the open, in a tomb in the middle of the largest city in the region, where anyone could have discovered it.

I'm sorry, but this relies on faith at least as much as the Christian religion does, and contradicts common sense. It's nonsense. None of this makes any sense at all, but I'll bet it sells lots of advertising.

But what I found most interesting was this video from The View, where in Rosie asks, "Wasn't the Bible written 200 years after the death of Jesus?"

Sigh, my dear little Rosie, the Bible consists of the Old Testament written before Christ and the New Testament, that last book of which was written before 100ad. This would put the last book within 70 years of Christ with some arguing for an even earlier date. The apostle Paul wrote within 20 or so years as I noted here.

Furthermore, the time from Christ to the NT writings is better than much of ancient history and easily fall within the time frame that disallows legendary embellishment, as established from secular historical data. Paul wrote within 20 years while some were still alive that had seen Jesus after his resurrection, to previously established churches, imploring them to remember what they had already received. He also includes a Christian statement of faith that most date within 3-8 years of the crucifixion.

For those who say we can't use the Bible to prove the Bible, that is much too simplistic in this case. One needs to show that the writers are so biased as to have distorted the data, rather than just imply this. In the New Testament there are claims of eyewitness testimony that should be examined, not dismissed by mere assertion. More on such errors here.

As to that quote Rosie reminded me of

'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. - Abraham Lincoln

An Inconvenient Truth

As in, the members of the academy apparently care little for what the word documentary means anymore and only cares about stroking the Hollywood libtard political fetish of the moment. Their latest ejaculation being Al Gore's little fantasy, An Inconvenient Truth, winning an Oscar.

Patrick J. Michaels runs through the propaganda, be sure to read it all:

Inconvenient Truths - Novel science fiction on global warming.

The main point of the movie is that, unless we do something very serious, [...] raising sea levels over twenty feet by the year 2100.

Where’s the scientific support for this claim? Certainly not in the recent Policymaker’s Summary from the United Nations’ much anticipated compendium on climate change. Under the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s medium-range emission scenario for greenhouse gases, a rise in sea level of between 8 and 17 inches is predicted by 2100. Gore’s film exaggerates the rise by about 2,000 percent.

For all the talk of peer review lately when it comes to ID, this next point is rather interesting.

Nowhere in the traditionally refereed scientific literature do we find any support for Gore’s hypothesis. Instead, there’s an unrefereed editorial by NASA climate firebrand James E. Hansen, in the journal Climate Change — edited by Steven Schneider, of Stanford University, who said in 1989 that scientists had to choose “the right balance between being effective and honest” about global warming — and a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that was only reviewed by one person, chosen by the author, again Dr. Hansen.

[...]

When it comes to global warming, apparently the truth is inconvenient. And it’s not just Gore’s movie that’s fiction. It’s the rhetoric of the Congress and the chief executive, too.

With the way the word documentary is used nowadays, ranging from Michael Moore's hack jobs to now this latest, it should be easy for any one of us to gain such prestige and approval. Because of this, I'm going to make a movie about how Bill Clinton and Al Gore helped encouraged Al Qaeda and other terrorists in Iraq to kill Americans and Iraqis so that a Democrat could get elected in 2008. Don't worry, I'll call it a documentary and thereby guarantee that facts will not be a concern, at least to the academy and Hollywood. Oops - I attacked a lefty, my bad. No problem, I'll just stick George Bush, Cheney and Halliburton in there and say that the plan is to get a Democrat president so the country swings strongly to the right with congressional and local elections that follow.

I'm going to start working on my Oscar speech now and picking what fancy parties I'll be invited to. If you finance my film, you can come along as well.

A nearly perfect reply

Sometimes complaining about the criticism directed at oneself can result in an apology and the individual reframing their disagreement. With all the whining that princess Pelosi has thrown around concerning Cheney's comments, it was interesting to see how the Vice President would respond.

Vice President Dick Cheney refused Friday to take back his charge that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's opposition to President Bush's Iraq war buildup is playing into the hands of the al-Qaida terrorist network.

"If you're going to advocate a course of action that basically is withdrawal of our forces from Iraq, then you don't get to just do the fun part of that, that says, 'We'll, we're going to get out,' and appeal to your constituents on that basis," Cheney said.

[...]

"I'm not sure what part of it is that Nancy disagreed with. She accused me of questioning her patriotism. I didn't question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment."

"You also have to be accountable for the results. What are the consequences of that? What happens if we withdraw from Iraq?," he said. "And the point I made and I'll make it again is that al-Qaida functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That's their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we'll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of al-Qaida. I said it and I meant it."

Asked if he was willing to take back his criticism of Pelosi, Cheney replied, "I'm not backing down." (source thanks to Pamela)

American senior citizens kick some ass

Nothing like thinking you have an easy mark, with a tour bus of senior citizen tourists. Oops - one less bad guy on the streets.

(source) SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (AP) -- A tour bus of U.S. senior citizens defended themselves against a group of alleged muggers, sending two of them fleeing and killing a third in the Atlantic coast city of Limon, police said on Thursday.

One of the tourists - a retired member of the U.S. military aged about 70 - put assailant Warner Segura in a head lock and broke his clavicle after the 20-year-old and two other men armed with a knife and gun held up their tour bus Wednesday, said Luis Hernandez, the police chief of Limon, 80 miles east of San Jose.

Got to love that "retired member of the U.S. military ". Fortunately, the police are not pressing charges noting that they acted in self defense.

"They were in their right to defend themselves after being held up," Hernandez said.

Despite the trauma, only one member of the tour group was treated for an anxiety attack and the group is continuing on their vacation.

"All of the guests involved, who had booked the cruise together as a group, have opted to continue with their vacation plans. Carnival is providing full support and assistance to the guests," according to the statement.

So, scratch one bad guy, at the hands of American senior citizens and a vacation that is even now more well deserved is back on schedule. A win-win, and I suspect that most law-abiding citizens in Costa Rica won't mind one criminal permanently off their streets.

Pelosi cries like a little girl

Heaven forbid one would call a spade a spade. Dick Cheny, in his usual, straight to the point manner, had this to say about Democrats and their efforts against the President concerning Iraq:

Cheney Slams Iraq Plan Advocated by Dems

Dick Cheney on Wednesday harshly criticized Democrats' attempts to thwart President Bush's troop buildup in Iraq, saying their approach would "validate the al-Qaida strategy."

Of course Pelosi couldn't take that.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fired back that Cheney was questioning critics' patriotism.

"I hope the president will repudiate and distance himself from the vice president's remarks," Pelosi said. She said she tried to complain about Cheney to President Bush but could not reach him.

"You cannot say as the president of the United States, 'I welcome disagreement in a time of war,' and then have the vice president of the United States go out of the country and mischaracterize a position of the speaker of the House and in a manner that says that person in that position of authority is acting against the national security of our country," the speaker said.

and more crying from the little princess

Pelosi, at a news conference in San Francisco, said Cheney's criticism of Democrats was "beneath the dignity of the debate we're engaged in and a disservice to our men and women in uniform, whom we all support."

Dignity? This from the woman who said Bush was rushing to send troops into danger so that Democrats couldn't cut funding?

And her whining continues:

"And you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to call the president and tell him I disapprove of what the vice president said," Pelosi said. "It has no place in our debate." Bush had previously urged her to call him when a member of his administration stepped over the line by questioning Democrats' patriotism, she said.

Considering that Al Qaeda has stated that it wants us to leave and they hope to outlast our will to fight, it is quite reasonable to note that the various flavors of cut and run that Democrats and spineless Republicans are toying with, very much validate the strategy of our enemy. Al Qaeda has said they want to repeat what happened in Vietnam. Unfortunately, too many in the media and politicians with no concept of history or what their actions will result in, appear to want the same thing.

As to the incessant whine that their patriotism is being questioned, every time their judgment is criticized, one has to wonder if their judgment is just so faulty that they're incapable of noticing the difference or they're just that dishonest and prefer to suppress debate rather than actually address the criticism. Either way, it doesn't say much about putting them in charge of national security.

Then we have this little gem from Pelosi:

As for Cheney's assertion that the partial British pullout is a sign that things are going well in Iraq, Pelosi said: "If it's going so well, we'd like to withdraw our troops as well.

Is she completely unaware of the differences between the British areas and Baghdad? As "Captain Ed" notes:

...the southern provinces have always presented less trouble than the Sunni areas in the center and west of Iraq. The population is much more homogenously Shi'ite, and the new Iraqi Army fits better there than in Baghdad, Diyala, and Anbar. Other provinces in the south have already transferred to Iraqi control, and Basra follows, as it should.

[...]

This is the natural denouement of the Iraqi campaign, however. As the Iraqis can take over security responsibilities for their provinces, the Western powers will pull back and pull out, although the British forces will remain in smaller numbers to provide assistance to the Iraqis. The US will do the same when Baghdad and Anbar come under better control. The Brits have succeed in their mission, and they now can shift their forces accordingly.

It would be nice if the anti-Bush crowd would let us finish our mission as the British have, rather than be so intent on making love to defeat. Even now, they have to ignore that the surge is already showing positive results. Certainly, there will be setbacks. That is the nature of war. But to throw away victory that is within reach is a sad testimony of the character of far too many in this country.

As shocking as it may be, it also appears that having a street named after oneself is no indication of an ability for serious thinking. Considering that all of the Democrat candidates for President have similar thoughts on the war, they might as well have streets named after themselves as well. The reach of their thinking beyond that, will probably only go far enough to put a little crescent on the street sign.

Gee, I guess I have another career...

And I didn't even know it.

With the way Nightline portrayed it tonight, the only opposition this Joan of Arc pushing for the Passenger "Bill of Rights" would be facing is the airline industry and their lobbyists tossing around money in Congress.

Well, I think it's a stupid and unnecessary groping into the market. If airlines keep screwing up, passengers will go elsewhere. Those companies that adapt and improve will survive, those that don't will fall by the wayside. I must have misplaced my lobbyist business cards the way they tell it.

Does Congress have nothing better to do? I suppose if I have to choose, between them screwing our troops and the Iraqis over, with their cowardice that provides comfort to our enemies, or screwing up another industry and market again with the unintended consequences that always brings, I'll take the later.

It would be nice if I got the salary that goes along with my additional career though.

One of the worst?

McCain is apparently polishing up his MSM "maverick" credentials.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Monday the war in Iraq has been mismanaged for years and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will be remembered as one of the worst in history. (source)

This seems rather over the top considering the quick victories we had in Afghanistan and Iraq with the overthrow of Saddam, and the transformation of the military that Rumsfeld was attempting against entrenched bureaucratic resistance.

I wonder how such a flip compared to his statement when Rumsfeld resigned will play in Republican primaries. It's not like he has it easy as it is with his rep for having the MSM as his main constituency, or campaign finance "reform", or attacking conservatives that disagree with him, in contrast to how Rudy Giuliani responds to those who disagree.

Then again, it sure helps should a Democrat be elected and one is jonesing for a cabinet position of some sort. And that's the problem with McCain, it's very difficult to be sure of his motives and whose ass he's trying to kiss.

Oh no!!!

I got tagged! I'll just steal the explanation from the one who tagged me, the rules for this meme are here.

Each player starts with the 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged should write something of their own and state the rules clearly. In the end, you should choose 6 people to be tagged, and list their names. Leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments, and tell them to read your blog.

To quote Book from Firefly:

"If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater and people who tag others with blog memes." ;-p

So here we go!

Six weird things about me:

  • I have to crack my ankles several times after I go to bed.
  • Right now, the car parts in my apt., work better than my car :(
  • I procrastinate too much. Someday I'll do something about that.
  • I like guns and have several
  • I have several real swords, including a katana with a 100-150 year old blade
  • I named my cat scratch and he lives up to his name.

And now for my revenge bwahahaha

The real danger our country faces

Or, how to destroy a good point by extremely over the top rhetoric.

The video at Hot Air.

Saying the teacher's unions are a greater danger than an Al Qaeda nuclear attack makes me wonder if he really doesn't have much of an argument or simply thinks it's a good way to draw attention to his particular cause. I suppose if you think shooting yourself in the foot is a positive way to attract attention, by all means.

The teacher's unions are a problem, in a number of ways. Let's not drop the ball by making such stupid comparisons.

Global warming holocaust deniers!

This might upset little so and so at the weather channel. Sorry, I'm not going to get certified as a climatologist, so you can call for my decertification, while boo hooing about how political the issue has become.

As for the dork who said this in my post about the great headline:

Certainly is ironic. Too bad Wyoming and Montana are suffering from severe droughts while the northeast gets pounded with more than usual percipitation. Climate is not a local phenomena, but a global one.

Besides the obviously deficient sense of humor, which I noted in my reply, there is the the kowtowing to the new mantra "climate change" rather than global warming. That such an individual also thinks it necessary to state that climate is a global matter speaks volumes as well. Unfortunately, it's also part of the problem with the Global Warming! *oops* Climate Change! hysteria when it comes to the actual data and how much scientists actually understand regarding what affects our climate and how sensitive it is to such factors.

Don Suber lists a number of global warming holocaust deniers around the globe.

So far, February’s temperatures have been lower than the all-time recorded average for the month.

“This February has averaged 22 degrees in Charleston. The lowest February temperatures on record were in 1978 when the average was 24.2 degrees.”

[...]

temperatures in Antarctica are not co-operating with the computer models for global warming, said David Bromwich, professor of professor of atmospheric sciences in the Department of Geography.

[...]

Agence France-Presse reported: “Heaviest snow in nearly a century hits northern Indian resort town.”

Rather difficult to decertify an entire landmass or town because it ain't cooperating with the hype, though I suppose some might consider trying that.

She was wonderful woman and I'll always remember her saying that she prays for me and all her grandchildren almost every time I went to see her.

I was unable to travel to Michigan last weekend after hearing she was on oxygen and these were probably her last days. However, it was a comfort to hear from family that did see her, that somehow, despite not eating food for a week and having organ failure, she managed to have enough energy to be in her chair when they arrived. She recognized people and talked for a bit and then laid down, as she was tired. She never got up again.

I'll miss my Grandma and always cherish her faith and how she strived to be a prayer warrior.

Until we meet again, thank you for the Christian example that you set for us all.

Perhaps cut and run is a good idea

It appears that some have been affected by all this talk of bugging out.

Al Sadr Fled Iraq, Fearing U.S. Bombs (Thanks to Ace)

Feb. 13, 2007 — While members of the U.S. House of Representatives take turns weighing in on President Bush's planned troop surge in Iraq, the focus in Iraq is not on the arrival of more U.S. troops, but the departure of one of the country's most powerful men, Moqtada al Sadr and members of his army.

According to senior military officials, al Sadr left Baghdad two to three weeks ago and fled to Tehran, Iran, where he has family.

Al Sadr commands the Mahdi army, one of the most formidable insurgent militias in Iraq, and his move coincides with the announced U.S. troop surge in Baghdad.

Sources believe al Sadr is worried about an increase of 20,000 U.S. troops in the Iraqi capital. One official told ABC News' Martha Raddatz, "He is scared he will get a JDAM [bomb] dropped on his house."

Sources say some of the Mahdi army leadership went with al Sadr.

[...]

It seems conditions on the ground are changing much faster than various politicians can bloviate and talk out of both sides of their mouth while saying nothing of substance.

As to Sadr being scared of a JDAM being dropped on his house, heck, his cranium will suffice. It's not like GPS coordinates are unavailable for the Iranian land mass.

Next news item, Democrats and chicken shyte Repubs flip flop on cut and run and demand that Sadr return to help maintain pressure on the Bush administration to leave Iraq. That little part about his helping to kill our troops being only a minor technicality when it comes to resisting Bush.

BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Great headline!

DrudgeGlobalWarmHeadline

The text from Drudge:

HOUSE HEARING ON 'WARMING OF THE PLANET' CANCELED AFTER SNOW/ICE STORM
HEARING NOTICE
Tue Feb 13 2007 19:31:25 ET

The Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality hearing scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2123 Rayburn House Office Building has been postponed due to inclement weather. The hearing is entitled “Climate Change: Are Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Human Activities Contributing to a Warming of the Planet?”

The hearing will be rescheduled to a date and time to be announced later.

DC WEATHER REPORT:

Wednesday: Freezing rain in the morning...then a chance of snow in the afternoon. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Highs in the mid 30s. Northwest winds around 20 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows around 18. Northwest winds around 20 mph.

As I've noted to several people recently, it's rather funny that the media was lamenting retailers slumping because of the lack of selling winter coats -> GLOBAL WARMING! -> MAN'S FAULT! only to have that quickly followed by record cold spells around the country.

I guess I'll be decertified as a climatologist, bummer.

And I thought the teeny boppers were stupid

At least they have an excuse, being that they're young. Perhaps they'll eventually study a few things rather than continue to uncritically accept what they threw around in their little youtube video that I addressed in a previous post. However, there are others, smug in their rejection of God or any thing supernatural, who unless they're simply an uneducated toddler, have no excuse while being unable to see the absolute foolishness of what they say.

I've had a bit of dialogue of late with several (ir)rationals groupies here on my blog. Considering my experience with this type before, I don't normally rush to provide extensive answers. Those who proudly strut in their extreme skepticism, while applying it inconsistently are clearly not interested in reasoned discussion. There's really not much else to think of someone who says there's no evidence whatsoever for the Christian faith or even for the supernatural.

If you want to start from the beginning, the post that started all of this and the various exchanges that followed:

Rational Response Squad...
Dialogue with RRS groupies - round 1
Dialogue with RRS groupies - round 2
(ir)Rational Responders - dialogue with groupie 2 cont.

Little Pirate's rather pathetic reply to that last post:

Obviously, you're unable to assimilate an atheists stimulating concepts into your blighted and retarded world-view. I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

Have fun with your overpopulated, banner-laden, 1995'esque blog

Atheists for Jesus!

and my reply:

Little Pirate,

Thanks for proving the waste of time that it is to offer substantive data and arguments to a head up their ass skeptic.

---

Little Pirate has since replied again, though in more wordy fashion, however, it will soon be clear that the increased volume of text does nothing to rise above the previous shallow and uninformed replies that this particular groupie is so capable of.

Big Mark,

Just remember you're the one who set the tone for the commentary on this blog with your original post...I'm just following your lead.

How cute, now you're saying "you did it first!" Actually, what I did in my first post was note what I saw as flaws in a news report concerning the (ir)rationals and then stated that I didn't care to rush into taking the time to present things to hardcore skeptics as you and others immediately demonstrated being. You've only proceeded to confirm my original perception and this reply does nothing to reverse that. For your little, "just following your lead" to really work, you would have to actually have offered substance that I just dismissed out of hand. That's not what happened, as I replied to your little article from John Loftus with explanations and sources as to why he was wrong on so many issues. I notice you have yet to bother replying to any of the points raised, even in your second reply to that post.

Either way, the fact is that you have yet to defend your religious beliefs on a rational basis - even when I asked you a simple question.

You either have a problem with reading comprehension or didn't bother to actually read the post that you have now replied to - twice.

It's easy to say hey, look at the Bible, the evidence is obvious (to which you did).

Actually, I did not. While my answers were brief, I offered more explanation than - because the Bible says.

But if you seriously look at the "evidence" for believing in a supreme being, the evidence is not really evidence at all - it's just a bunch of weak arguments rolled up in a variety of talking points.

Wow, such a detailed refutation of all the various arguments for the supernatural. <-- sarcasm, as I'm sure it went over your head.

Evidence against believing in a supreme being is so much more substantial, verifiable, reproduceable and gratifying, and it is mounting every day.

And again, since you obviously didn't read my previous post, go read what Paul Davies has written or take the time to look up Antony Flew. The situation is certainly not as you portray it, unless you think Christianity is only young earth creationism and hyper literal understandings of the Biblical text. If that's your entire understanding of the faith, then you only demonstrate your ignorance, let alone, your apparent claim of a negative being proved.

If your religious beliefs comfort you, or you genuinely believe in them, that's your prerogative - but neither of those things give credence to your supernatural beliefs being true. Not a single one.

It's not like I argued for feelings or sincerity as evidence. Do you ever pay attention?

I choose a natural world-view because it makes more sense, and there is evidence to support it.

Except the Johny Loftus article you presented as sooo rational, was filled with ignorance and poorly supported conclusions. Also, while there is evidence that life adapts, that is quite different from ultimate origins, as well as, the problem of a completely natural world-view explaining how rationality can be valid if everything is merely the result of non-rational motions of atomic particles.

In the 30+ years I was a follower of the Christian faith, I never once was provided evidence to support what I was suppose to believe. I just had to believe because "it was the truth" - that's how I was raised.

That only shows you were a stupid Christian surrounded by too many using the "blind faith" crutch that I care little for. Hardly surprising since you're also a stupid atheist.

But I've broken free from the mindtrap that is religion - and it's a great thing. If verifiable evidence turns up to support to existence of a supernatural being, I'm willing to consider the possibility of the existence of a god/gods. Until then, that blighted world-view doesn't interest me.

*yawn* Keep strutting oh peacocky one. You've only shown that you haven't bothered to look into the information I've already presented or even deal with the points I've raised. You haven't really broken away from any mindtrap when you maintained your condition of being willfully uninformed, regardless of your change in world view.

"It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."
- Carl Sagan

I see no reason to disagree with Sagan on that. I have reason to draw different conclusions regarding the universe as it really is though.

Concluding comments:

For someone who is observant enough to comment on the style of my blog, it's rather telling that they miss seeing that I have an Apologetics Department/Category in the left sidebar and a search feature in the right, as well as also in the blogger bar at the top. I also have several links to apologetics resources in my left sidebar. Talk about selective vision, with not a single point in my previous post actually being addressed and the various means to seek out further information, also completely ignored.

Such a determined effort to not even reply to brief explanations and points raised or seek further information is not the sign of one who is actually open to evidence as this (ir)rationals groupie claimed to be. As to formerly being a Christian, big whoop, clearly not a very informed one, to say the least, and very determined to maintain that condition of being uninformed.

Those so proud of their apostasy sadly confirm scripture.

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Hopefully, it isn't too late for those bragging about their turning from the faith. But though that may unfortunately be the case, we can still learn from this. We apparently have an example of what relying on the crutch of "blind faith" can lead to. We not only perform a disservice to ourselves when we do so, but we only help undermine others in the faith and bear some responsibility for those who turn away, thinking there is no evidence whatsoever. However, that they choose to remain so uninformed, when the situation is easily resolved, means they still bear final responsibility regarding their condition. While it's more difficult, to study and provide good answers, it is encouraged in scripture and it will bring great rewards.

2Ti 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Too stupid to slam

Kind of have to feel sorry for these teeny bopper cheerleader brained (ir)rationals types and their pathetically ignorant arguments they have against the Bible. Don't worry, that isn't a slam compared to what they do to themselves with their display of - uhm, well - take a look:

(Thanks to Atheism Sucks!)

My apologies to readers who suffered injury when their eyes rolled out of their heads.
