Cognitive dissonance - Pelosi style

I covered in a previous post, how princess Pelosi (she has a street named after her don't you know?) had pulled a flip flop on the issue of more troops for Iraq. Rush Limbaugh had confirmed what a caller told him by doing a LexisNexis search.

Now we have another example of flipping and flopping.

On the one hand:

"...we will hold the president accountable. He has to answer for his war. He has dug a hole so deep he can't even see the light on this. It's a tragedy. It's a stark blunder."

And then on the other:

"No, they did not die in vain. We appreciate what they have done. We applaud them and salute them for their valor, for their patriotism, and the sacrifice they are willing to make."

But our little princess has decided to make it easier for those of us who don't have access to LexisNexis. We no longer have to search to see what her previous position was compared to her stance now, as the above statements were both contained in one interview she recently had with Diane Sawyer, which is covered in this article. You can see video excerpts of that interview here.

Besides the rattled mind that can't maintain a consistent position or see the logical conclusions of one or the other, even during one conversation, we have her also saying this:

"The president knows that because the troops are in harm's way, that we won't cut off the resources. That's why he's moving so quickly to put them in harm's way, but we will hold the president accountable. He has to answer for his war."

The Whitehouse didn't care for such an accusation and rightfully so:

Saying Democrats were waging a "sound-bite war," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino fired back: "Questioning the president's motivations and suggesting that he for some political reason is rushing troops into harm's way is not appropriate, it is not correct and it is unfortunate."

[...]

The White House struck back at Pelosi for suggesting Bush had political motives for moving quickly on the troop increase. "Those particular comments were poisonous," Perino said.

"Speaker Pelosi was arguing in essence that the president is putting young men and women in harm's way for tactical political reasons," she said. Perino said Bush "is sending the troops to Iraq quickly because he wants to win."

But there is something else, which others have noted previously. The Democrats say that Iraq was a mistake, that it is unwinnable etc. and yet they will not stand up and actually cut funding or use whatever Constitutional authority they have to prevent more troops from being sent into a hopeless cause in which more will be killed. This attempt to cover both sides, we didn't pull you out, in case there is success, but we didn't support the war, in case things get worse, only allows for more soldiers to be killed for something Democrats have been saying is a lost cause. And Princess Pelosi has the gall to charge the President with playing politics with our soldier's lives?

It's no wonder a friend of mine said, "I wish someone would slap her", when I told her about some of this. My reply was, "maybe it would loosen up her botox eyebrows".

All joking aside, it seems to me that perhaps the botox application went a bit more than skin deep or she's had so much it's saturated her system and affected her brain. It's a good thing we have Barbara Boxer who want's women barefoot and pregnant, or I would think Congress was hopelessly lost to a bunch of stammering idiots.

But hey, my being a conservative white male and all, I guess I'll just have to be happy with these powerful women setting the women's movement back a few decades.
