One of the worst?
McCain is apparently polishing up his MSM "maverick" credentials.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Monday the war in Iraq has been mismanaged for years and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will be remembered as one of the worst in history. (source)
This seems rather over the top considering the quick victories we had in Afghanistan and Iraq with the overthrow of Saddam, and the transformation of the military that Rumsfeld was attempting against entrenched bureaucratic resistance.
I wonder how such a flip compared to his statement when Rumsfeld resigned will play in Republican primaries. It's not like he has it easy as it is with his rep for having the MSM as his main constituency, or campaign finance "reform", or attacking conservatives that disagree with him, in contrast to how Rudy Giuliani responds to those who disagree.
Then again, it sure helps should a Democrat be elected and one is jonesing for a cabinet position of some sort. And that's the problem with McCain, it's very difficult to be sure of his motives and whose ass he's trying to kiss.
