Miscellaneous meanderings and philosophical ramblings. The title from a spiral notebook I used to jot down my thoughts on religion and other matters some years ago. I like to write, think and express my views on various issues. Robust discussion is welcome.

I'm shocked, shocked to find that...

Hillary!/Sillary/Shrillary! is running for President.

Hillary Clinton Launching Presidential Run

Jan. 20, 2006 — Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has announced that she is forming an exploratory committee for president, thereby launching a bid to become the first female chief executive of the United States.

"I'm in," she said on a Web site, hillaryclinton.com. "And I'm in to win

And she's even in to win. *Whew* that just took my breath away. The world must be perplexed that something so unpredictable has occurred and to add to the confusion, the wife of Bill Clinton is actually in it to win!

Captain's Quarters notes more Sillary from her announcement:

Of course, it wouldn't be Hillary without getting Sillary. She tries for an Oprah-like chatty tone to her announcement, and winds up offering this laughable little nugget:

"I'm not just starting a campaign, though, I'm beginning a conversation with you, with America," she said. "Let's talk. Let's chat. The conversation in Washington has been just a little one-sided lately, don't you think?"

It has? What happened on November 7th, a tea party? Puh-leeze. The Democrats have hardly been silent during Bush's six years in office. They have been shrill, hysterical, and well-covered by the press and bloggers on both sides of the partisan divide. What they haven't been, until the last midterms, is convincing.

This reminds me of an idea for a movie or TV series a friend of mine came up with. The wife of Bill Clinton is replaced with a double who is actually conservative. I noted that much could be made of how the Friends of Hillary! and her swooning supporters would be perplexed as she changed her views, but of course, they would back her through thick and thin because it's Hillary! after all, and it's not like the wife of Bill Clinton hasn't bounced to and fro on issues before.

So let the games begin.
