Islamic crescent forced on flight 93
If you though the controversy over having the appearance of an Islamic crescent at the flight 93 memorial, had produced much needed change in the design, think again.
Pamela at Atlus Shrugs has the following including an aerial view of the memorial so you can see for yourself:
We thought the outrage expressed at an Islamic crescent memorializing the dead of Flight 93 would affect a real design change, right? Wrong. Not only is the crescent still there, it remains virtually unchanged.
Be sure to follow here links for more information. The Memorial Project is accepting comments so follow this link and add yours. Be sure to get them in as the comment period closes August 14, 2006.
I'll finish with the comments I left at the Memorial Project page:
I see nothing in this excessively symbolic memorial design that adequately expresses the courageous act of the passengers. Remembering their valor and physically decisive act is very much needed in this time. A kumbaya, artistic ego stroke, with the appearance of an Islamic crescent, is hardly worthy of the what the Flight 93 passengers accomplished in their moment of heroism that undoubtedly saved lives.
Go there now!
