What's Barack Obama's shoe size?

Might be hard to tell while he has both feet in his mouth. The Democrat presidential candidate has had a rough time of it lately. In the debates he said he would have high level diplomatic talks with rouge regimes. Hillary! was sharp enough to smack him down for that, emphasizing the junior Senator's naivete in contrast to her experience, while burnishing her somewhat hawkish image on foreign policy. Whether her image has actual substance is another matter.

But now Senator Obama has decided to do a two step, straight into his own mouth.

First, he says he would pull our troops out of Iraq and go into Pakistan if we had actionable intelligence, even if Musharraf said no.

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama called not only for a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, but a redeployment of troops into Afghanistan and even Pakistan — with or without the permission of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. (source)

Ok, let's just think about how impractical that is, to put it politely. Pakistan has nuclear weapons and while Musharraf is far from perfect, he's better than if radical Muslims took over the country and had those weapons to do with as they please. Does Barack have any clue what a declaration of war and a large military force invading would do to the population? It certainly wouldn't moderate them.

Captain Ed, goes into more depth in his post here. Be sure to read it all:

...of all the war plans floated by the Democrats in this primary campaign, this is easily the stupidest of all, and that includes Joe Biden's "Three Iraqs" policy.

[...]

If we march across the border of a sovereign nation without their permission, that's an act of overt war. Pakistan has nuclear weapons, and would be likely to use them in a last extreme. They could certainly shoot tactical nukes at our Navy ships that would have to support an invasion force. They may also be inclined to use them against our new ally, India, in the case of an invasion.

Before we can forget that foolishness Senator Obama decides to pile on even more, saying he nuclear weapons are not an option in dealing with terrorists.

"I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance" in Afghanistan or Pakistan, Obama said. He then added that he would not use such weapons in situations "involving civilians."

"Let me scratch that," he said. "There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table." (source)

Don Suber, has a few things to say about that.

No nukes? Why not just adopt sharia law now and end the Global War On Terrorism? Hands up. White flags out. The 14th century could not have been that bad.

Could it?

The quickest step toward a nuclear war is to say nukes are off the table. It paints a bright red target on the United States.

How did this flimsy lightweight get to be the No. 2 person in the Democratic presidential race? Are Democrats so absent any leadership — any gravitas — that they have to go with a first-term senator whose chief claim to fame before the Senate was that he could not get elected to Congress? (source)

The Senator clearly has little clue regarding mutually assured destruction (MAD) and how he just threw that out the window. Even worse, he's also been less than supportive of missile defense programs, which would be very helpful in reducing the need to rely on MAD.

Recently the Senate passed legislation, the purpose of which was:

"To state the policy of the United States on the protection of the United States and its allies against Iranian ballistic missiles." (source)

There were 90 yeas, 5 nays and 5 not voting. Senator Obama was among the few who didn't vote.

It would be best for the Senator if he just kept both feet in his mouth. Even without saying another word, he would still have some coveted identity politics mojo with that less than pale skin color, which for some, is enough reason to vote for him.

Then again, perhaps the presidential candidate is practicing an exotic form of political jiujutsu. Some have speculated that Senator Obama is actually running for the Vice Presidential slot. Well, unless someone more peacenik with a side of stupid, than Barack gets the Democrat nod, he doesn't have a chance. I seriously doubt Hillary! would care to have her hawk credentials dragged down by the leaden balloons masquerading as thoughtful policy, wafting from the lightweight Senator. Clever strategy that, making sure he's unpalatable as a Vice President, so people know he's in it for the grand price. Just one teensy weensy minor flaw, he's also made it clear he has no business being President, unless most Americans have decided surrender and sharia are cool things to experience.
